I decided to dedicate a post just to a simple chicken breast, because a lot of people struggle with cooking chicken breast. It’s either dry or just doesn’t have enough flavor or seasoning.
Typically, when I’m seasoning food I just go off of eyesight and/or smell. However, I know a lot of people who don’t cook or didn’t grow up cooking aren’t in tune with the sight/smell method. A lot of it could be due to the fact that they aren’t familiar with certain herbs and spices. Which is understandable because majority of the people I meet are used to one thing – Seasoning Salt.
It makes me want to pull my hair out when I see people grab this crap out of their cabinet to cook. On the other hand, its all what some people are used to. So when it comes to cooking meat (without the “staple” seasoning salt) people often don’t know what spices to use or if their food is even seasoned properly. Generally, when it comes to seasoning meat, you won’t know how it tastes until its already done. Of course by then, its too late to fix it, and you’re just forced to serve it with a side of salt & pepper. *shrugs*
My best friend, Jai, struggles in this department – tremendously. The girl just can’t get it right for some reason. However, I love that she tries. Therefore, before she gives up on cooking chicken (or any other meat for that matter) completely, I want to give her (and all of you) the perfect go to seasoning blend that is perfect for pretty much any chicken recipe.
The Perfect Chicken Breast
- 2 16oz Chicken Breast
- 1/8 C. Olive Oil or Canola Oil
- 3 tsp. Garlic, minced (+juice)
- 1 Tbsp. Paprika
- 1 Tbsp. Parsley
- 1 tsp. Onion Powder
- 1 tsp. Kosher Salt
- 1 tsp. Black Pepper
Preheat oven to 375ºF
Place chicken breast in a baking dish. Coat with oil, garlic, and the rest of the spices and herbs. Make sure the chicken is coated on all sides.
Place in the oven and bake for about 15-20 mins. *Chicken breast must be slightly firm to the touch, and spices should have formed a nice crust (not a crunchy crust) on the chicken breast.*
Serve hot with your favorite sides or over pasta.
