29th Birthday Brunch

Y’all I am so excited about being 29! This is the last year of my twenties and I’m determined to complete so many fun things before I turn the big 3..0! I know some of you are probably wondering why I’m excited about being 30 – most women dread getting older. However, I’ve been looking forward to being 30 since I was 25.. I know I know – I’m backwards. *shrugs*

Take a look at my “30 Before 30” List!

I have never been a birthday person, I actually didn’t even acknowledge my birthday. When people called to tell me “happy birthday” I would be surprised..

like “Oh Yeah! It is my birthday.” *shrugs* “Thanks” …I guess. But now, I’m completely different – I’m all about a good birthday, especially a memorable one. So my goal for my 29th birthday was to make it memorable and meaningful, I mean its the last year of my twenties for heavens sake. Who knows where I’ll be for my 30th?…. hopefully Bali! (keep it y’alls prayers please) Since I’m the queen of brunch (or at least just obsessed with it), why not have a birthday brunch! It only makes since.

At first I was trying to figure out where I would have it, I surely wasn’t cooking for my own brunch – but I also didn’t want to break the bank either. Then I ran into this chef from New Orleans at Restaurant Depot, and he was telling me about his restaurant that was relaunching the same weekend of my birthday. So I decided to just have my birthday brunch there. Was it a gamble? Yes. Could it have been all wrong? Yes. However, I was willing to take that chance.

Once I had the location and menu down, it was time to figure out my birthday fit, and all the other things that would make it special. Table decor was super important to me, so I spoke with the owners of the restaurant, The Roof Sugarland, about bringing in my own decorations and balloons, etc. They were so open and catered to my every need. All I had to do was drop off my decorations and they set up the whole thing for me.

For the table decor I decided to make a table runner, you can find out how to make it here. Everything else was up to the restaurant.

Here are some shots of my D.I.Y. floral table runner.

Now that decor is taken care of.. Its time for my BIRTHDAY FIT..

I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to where, I just knew I wanted something cute and trendy that showed off my shape. *hee hee* I was looking all over for something to catch my eye, then I came across the cutest co-ord set from Zara. I absolutely love ZARA!! It’s one of my favorite stores.

Here’s a look at the outfit I wore and how I customized it.

(I made the top a drawstring crop top. You can find out how to recreate it here.)

Stay Feisty!
