I am a fan of homemade buttermilk biscuits!! Yes! I admit I have a problem.
I grew up eating them, and I’ve never gone back. My siblings and I used to visit my Grandma Tat every Summer in Jeanerette, Louisiana. She made EVERYTHING from scratch, including her biscuits. They were pure heaven!
My sister and I would wake up to the smell of her cooking, and those biscuits were always in the air. We never knew how she made those biscuits every morning with no recipe. I didn’t understand it at first. But now I understand, you can’t write down a recipe for love, its something that just happens. That’s what Grandma Tats’ biscuits were..pure love.
I wish she was here today, just to taste these biscuits. I’m sure she would be pleased. Of course, she wouldn’t hesitate to mention that I may have needed a little more of this, or that. Translation.. “you done good for yourself.”
Those were the best Summer’s. Spending those times with both of my grandmothers, learning their cooking techniques and their different views on the household. It was an awesome time. Those moments are truly missed, and will always be treasured.
R.I.P. Grandma Tat may your heavenly wings continue to guide you over all of your children. You are missed.
You guys won’t be disappointed with these super yummy, super buttery, buttermilk biscuits! They are soft, fluffy, and full of flavor.
Serve these warm with butter, and your favorite jelly, or smother them with your favorite gravy.
